Villa Valkenswaard

This project concerns a reconstruction of a villa from the ’30, located in Valkenswaard. The villa has already been reconstructed a few times, on the original drawing you will even find a French roof. Now, the biggest issue was that the existing extension had a very poor building quality and also the outhouse fell into disrepair. Van den Hurk Architecten made a project plan for this villa. Besides that, the owners wanted a greenhouse and a bay window because the house was quite dark inside. The design of Van den Hurk Architecten included all these wishes: the access to the house has been replaced in order to create more space for the garden and it also created more light into the (green)house by breaking down the old garage. Also a lot of glass has been implemented on the south facade in favor of more daylight, but also because of the passive energy of the sun. The house was quite old and barely insulated, at the same time the floors, walls and roofs have been insulation properly. The exterior design of the villa also got a big make-over; by means of shape, color and material usage, the villa and its extension got a modern appearance and looks more like an unity now.
